Verizon Wireless First Brand to Sponsor HD2 Multicasts of Clear Channel Radio Stations

Verizon New Music’ HD2 Multicast Is On-Air and Online at 21 Stations Features Blocks of Songs & Interviews with Hot New Artists

WHAT: Verizon Wireless is the first national advertiser to sponsor HD Radio multicasts. On-air and also streaming on twenty-one stations, ‘Verizon New Music’ features blocks of songs and interviews with hot new artists on 21 Clear Channel Radio on-air multicast stations and online stations.

This latest move builds on Clear Channel Radio’s history of firsts and industry-leading initiatives when it comes to HD Radio. In 2005, the company became a founding member of the HD Digital Radio Alliance, a joint initiative of leading radio broadcasters to accelerate the rollout of HD Digital Radio. The Format Lab was implemented in April 2006 to create new niche formats and is available to rival radio broadcasters. And this year, the company became the first broadcaster to code all of their primary and HD2 stations – 700 in all – so they are iTunes Tagging compliant.
