Bob Struble’s Latest Web Column Discusses His Focus on Driving Radio™ Technology into Cars and Portables, and the Supporting Successes in the CE Market Place
MEDIA ALERT
What:
In his latest Web column, The Barbell Strategy: Bulking Up for Radio’s Growth,
iBiquity Digital President and CEO, Bob Struble, riffs on Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey’s barbell strategy: the need for HD Radio technology to be in cars and portables.
“The barbell strategy is critical,” agrees Struble, because “listening in cars is where the money is” and “portables… are radio’s future.” He also points out that “to stick with that analogy, you need a bar to support the barbells, and that bar is traditional consumer electronic radios sold at retail. This… market is huge, and penetrating it leads to more rapid adoption in cars and portables.”
In closing, Struble elaborates on HD Radio technology’s great strengths – over 1,000 HD Radio multicast channels on the air, 100 HD Radio receivers available at 14,000 retail outlets, as well as strong automotive – 12 brands with more than 70 vehicles committed to the technology today and more coming soon – and portables just on the horizon.
